There's momentum 🙌

Momentum! That’s what I’m feeling, and I want to share why.
In February, we began our member mobilization campaign for the 2026 round of central bargaining. Our first action was a petition drive to gather signatures from members and community supporters.Â
Â
Over the span of one month, we gathered more than 50,000 signatures. This is an incredible response, and each day the provincial office continues to receive envelopes with more signed petitions.
Â
Those 50,000 signatures were achieved through your efforts and collaboration. We should all be proud of this action and the growing strength of our collective power as ETFO members.
Â
What’s next?
This week, members of provincial parliament (MPPs) from the New Democratic Party, the Liberal Party, the Green Party, and one independent will present our petitions in the legislature. By reading the petition, MPPs officially submit our lobbying demand for the government to adequately invest in public education. On Thursday, March 26, the Ontario budget will be unveiled, and we will be watching it closely for any further shortcomings for students and schools.Â
Â
After this first successful action, there is more to do. Together, we must continue to organize and reach every ETFO member, work with education unions across Ontario, and connect with parents and allies.
Building a broad, united movement is exactly what we need to put pressure on this government. It is time to push back!
Â
SAVE THE DATE - Provincial Day of Action

Our next action is a Day of Action happening on Wednesday, April 29. I am urging every member to participate in this province-wide Day of Action by wearing red and our smaller classes, BIG DIFFERENCE button/sticker. More details to come.
Â
On behalf of the provincial Executive, I want to say that I appreciate your commitment to demanding more for students. Together, we will make a difference.
Â
In solidarity, David Mastin, ETFO President
