The Near North Occasional Teachers have planned a joint PD event on April 16th at the Swiss House in Ahmic Harbour. Permanent and Occasional Teachers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Spring registration is now open and courses begin on April 21, 2026. ETFO AQ courses provide classroom resources and instructional strategies, tools, and transition ideas for educators. Check with your board to inquire about what subsidies might be available to you for general AQ courses, such as Mathematics and Special Education. It is ETFO’s position that EQAO be eliminated. The Federation believes that ongoing daily assessment by teachers is more meaningful and effective for students and parents. All students in publicly funded schools are legally required to write the provincial tests unless formally exempted. In Ontario, there is no legal way to withdraw students from EQAO. As part of the Women’s Program (WP) review, ETFO is launching a survey beginning Monday, March 23, 2026, and closing on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The survey is open to all members who identify as women, in alignment with Article X, Section 4 of the ETFO Constitution regarding women’s programs.
